X-Rust
Kvantti aka Antti Hietaniemi began his musical journey at primary school with Synthesizer Greatest -cassettes, 80's synth-pop and Prodigy.
- When I was at the first level of sixth-form college I heard Panasonic. That's when things exploded!
Kvantti plays electro, deep techno and categories of more experimental music, such as glitch, minimalism, noise and other electronic, sometimes even rhytmic, soundscapes. He's beej DJ'ing for a couple of years in ie. Turku, Helsinki and Lahti, where he alongside his educational training has managed to run a more or less regular club.
Since 1996, he's been working his way up to be part of the tightest Finnish techno dj'z around, gathering musical influences from early electronic bands and stylistic influences from modern-day techno heroes such as Ben Sims and Claude Young. Musical preferences have still always gone back to minimal techno, closest to his heart - but during recent years, the genre scale has expanded to reach house, downtempo, breakbeat and other styles.
DJ Vertigo aka Saku Harjunpää plays disco-house, but also more deeper house. He's collected vinyl for three years and played them at Pori, Rauma, Helsinki and Turku. Last summer he entertained the Street Party, DBTL and Koneisto audience at Turku. He says that last years' Koneisto-festival was the most memorable DJ experience - so far. His goal is to be a professional DJ - no more, no less.
Janne Puurunen, also known as DJ Burdock, was born in 1976. In the late 80's he discovered electronic music and started collecting hip hop records. Very soon after that he was introduced to underground warehouse parties in the Turku area. In 1993 together with a few of his friends he started an organization called The X-Rust Organization, whose main function was to promote underground electronic music. The same organization is still up and running releasing records, arranging parties and giving opportunities to new talent.
