X-Rust
Maria Soini grew up immersed in music since early childhood. And her early electronic influences: italo disco, electro and synth pop remain at the core of her sound as a deejay today, decades later. Maria's style is rich in detail, full of melodies and strong vocals. Whilst she combines genres boldly, moving between styles and moods, her mixes and sets are always harmoniously tightly bound together.
Nitro has been playing records since 1999, when there were mostly hard house/hard trance records spinning on the turntables. During the years 2002–2005 he organized clubs (Trap, Pimiö, Forge, Metro) and "Anchors Up!" summer club cruises in Jyväskylä.
Nowadays he is busy with The X-Rust Organization, which has had their own stage in every Konemetsä festival, for example. Nitro's current style consists mainly of electro, breakbeat and techno in all of it's forms.
In 1987 Ipe was just your typical long-haired Trash-metal listening skater and a local teenage hooligan in the west coast of Finland in Rauma. Somehow his musical interests changed totally about a year later. It was probably because of a certain DJ called Tapani Ripatti and his legendary Ocsid-radioshow which got him listening to acid house and disco.
In 1989 Ipe started deejaying and organising school parties. He quickly gained a reputation of being a kind of bold and unconventional DJ who is not afraid of mixing various genres in his sets.
Lazy Cat joined X-Rust in 1998 when she started deejaying in local bars in Turku and met the X-Rust guys at a friend's party. She had just spent the summer in London, working and shopping records, and at first her record collection was all about Glasgow Undergound, Paper Recordings, F Communications etc. Very jazzy and mellow house. She wanted to play for people so that they too could discover and enjoy this wonderful groovy music.
Born and bred in Turku, Finland and now living in exile in Helsinki Vapor started making electronic music when he was fourteen. Influenced by electro, chigago trax, detroit techno and house he also started to deejay in local bars and clubs. His first public deejay gig with a healthy dose of downtempo and house was at the age of seventeen. Vapor was one of the three resident deejays of the late Butane club (2004–2010).
